’tis the season of joy, fa la la’

bright colors for the holidays

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa la la la…a little bit of Christmas fun and festivities! It’s the time of the year for celebrations, family gatherings, giving and receiving gifts during this holiday season.

Over the years, Christmas has become such a commercial holiday, that for me, much of gift giving seems more like order fulfillment. The personal touch seems to have become lost. There seems to be nothing special or unique about getting the latest electronic gizmo for a family member, when it could just as well come from anyone else. Whatever happened to the good old days of personal gestures, like a hand written card or home made gifts?

In an effort to re-capture the joy of gift giving at Christmas, I am making my own decorations and gifts. I consider them to be much more thoughtful, heartfelt and unique gifts. This year I am making hand felted and eco-printed gifts, they’re environmentally friendly and fun to make. Some of my handmade decorations shown below might spark some ideas for you.
