weekly bundle: sample test on merino wool jersey

I received some jersey wool samples from a fabric store in Los Angeles. The samples are 100% merino wool of different grades and weight. Wool, being a protein (animal) fiber is a wonderful medium to work for eco-dyeing. The fiber is porous and an easy material to uptake natural dyes easily.

I am excited to bundle test them with my favorite botanical that are readily available in my area. I pre-washed the samples: bundle each of them in different plant materials without any mordant; and steamed them along with my other bundles. Here are the results…it was amazing!
